The Syriza-Anel government in self-siege

The week that just passed was full of sad events that ridicule the government and lay the fear that Greece is going through a gale, with captain and crew whose sole attributes are an unbelievable, fathomless, inability, frivolousness and irresponsibility.

Snapshot One: social insurance reform. The plan submitted by Minister of Labour  Katrougalos is full of unrealistic and ill-thought measures. What is more, on the basis of his constantly shifting public statements, one does not know whether he means it or he is just kidding. They are supposed to be only a basis for dialogue with farmers and other professional groups. But who on earth can accept – even as a starter – a proposition that takes away three quarters of his gross income in social insurance contributions and income taxes? Unprecedented protest was the natural outcome.

Snapshot Two: Davos. Why on earth the Prime Minister went to Davos? To attract foreign investment, at a time that Minister Skourlettis closes down a 1.3 billion investment in Skouries against the ruling of the Supreme Court, depriving 1.600 miners of their rightful jobs? And Minister of Marine Dritsas claims ignorance of the 1 billion sale of Port of Piraeus to Cosco? Do not Syriza Ministers know that we live in the age of Internet and news travel to Davos instantly? The only visible outcome of Davos for Tsipras was Scauble’s paraphrase: “It’s the implementation stupid”. Ironically, one of the Prime Minister’s principal electoral slogans was “a proud Greece”.

Snapshot Three: the Varouphakean curse.

Ex Minister of finance Varouphakis gave an interview with shocking revelations about the Government’s plan X to get out effectively of the eurozone in the July debacle. Even if we discount by 50% percent his statements, what remains is enough to convince even a hot-blooded leftist that we are in the hands of national apparatchiks and international gamblers that play Greece over dice, as we had foreseen more than a year ago.

Conclusion: Greece remains in the death cell of nations, as long as the Syriza-Anel gang stays in power. Only a miracle can save it from final death.
