Just over two weeks ago, KOUMOUNDOUROS published an analysis under the title: Greek opinion polls and the Oracle at Delphi, arguing that only Pythia held the secret of Greek elections, which was the confusion of evil for good and vice-versa at critical moments in our history. Unfortunately for Greeks, KOUMOUNDOUROS was, once more dead right.
The results of yesterday’s general election, from whatever angle they are interpreted, are a sheer triumph for SYRIZA and ANEL the unnatural government bedfellows, past and present. A political mis-match between radical Left and populist nationalistic Right, both eminently unfit to govern, by their seven-month record.
In short: they lied blatantly to the Greek people, delivering none of the electoral promises made in January; they did not negotiate with Europe for six whole months; they let the current Agreement with the troika expire in June; and when they finally did negotiate in the first week of July, they brought back a third Memorandum, with worse terms and conditions than those they had rejected one week earlier, including one more cut in pensions (6%) and a 12 billion euros extra tax package equal to 7% of current gdp.
How can all this be explained by common logic? The true answer is that it cannot.
The usual, current interpretation of the phenomenon is that it is still a vote of protest against the two parties that alternated in power (New Democracy and PASOK), deemed responsible for bring the austerity of the first two Memorandums. But then, why there was no vote of protest against SYRIZA and ANEL for going back on their electoral promises and on top, tipping the Country back into recession, slapping on capital controls and signing the third and worst Memorandum?
So if it is not common logic, what is it?
We were afraid only Pythia could give an answer and therefore KOUMOUNDOUROS sent once more, after the elections, an emissary to Delphi for an oracle. This time the answer was even more cryptic: as we say in the title it was PP and DDU. We ran mad trying to decipher such a cryptic message. We consulted political and social scientists, economists, psychologists, campaign consultants: none could come up with an answer. Finally, one of us had the clever idea of running to the Pentagon de-ciphering desk. It took them few hours to run it through their monstrous computers and then they came back with the following clear answer:
PP stands for: Psychological Pathology and DDU for DoomsDay Urge.
So we sunk into utter despondency, for there is no known cure for such desperate cases. Unless our emmissary misheard the oracle and the second word was: special psychological DDT to kill aberration cancerous cells.
