Our most recent political history shows – in so many words – that this is the art of the SYRIZA-ANEL government. It reminds me of the revolving puppet of my childhood which had the incredible skill of somersaulting both forward and backwards. I am amazed at the lack of humour of the representatives of the Institutions. Where else could they have such fun? An entire Government changing the VAT tax base on a daily basis, as if it were a shirt. One day we wear the private education model, but at the first growl of the clientele, we shift into the suit of lotto, eventually wearing the two-piece of wine: white and red – not to forget our red lines!
But is it only the VAT? Just remember! Refugee policy in the “invisible” sea borders of the Aegean, increase of the lowest wage, guaranteed pensions, a reduction in farmers’ taxation. The fiddles and drums are playing, but it is Mr. Tsipras not the markets that swirls in his bear dance. For, this is reality. Mr. Tsipras is paying dearly for his lessons in realism, but the Greek people are paying dearer for the ten months of his government, rather of his lack of governance. They receive in a most bitter way the dues of their political choice.
Is it possible that, even at the last moment, Mr. Tsipras might understand that the only way out for this country is a National Government of the broadest coalition? So that he (as well as we) might find our sleep and Greece its way?
