I write with my impressions still fresh from yesterday’s tele-political cockfight. I will start with the positive points.
- Since the first Greek tele-debate in 1989, this was the best from the dialogue point of view, even if it was a referee-dictated, sterilised, embryonic dialogue.
- Its structure remotely reflected the strongly expressed view of the electorate for a multi-party approach in attempting a solution of current Greek problems.
- It was not as boring as we expected, mainly thanks to the genuine humour of Mr. Meimarakis (ND) and some serious interventions and appeals by Mrs. Gennimata (PASOK)
Now the minuses:
-1. We saw no comprehensive presentation of party platforms, except for the frequent references to the third Memorandum as an obligatory programme. But didn’t this Memorandum evolve from the proposals of Minister Tsakalotos last July? Tsipras talked of it as an out-of marriage Victorian illegal child.
-2. Most disappointing, out of 7 party leaders at least 3 (Kammenos, Koutsoubas, Lafazanis) displayed some serious syndromes: The first of anti-scandal Don Quixotism and all three of acute loss of contact with reality.
-3. But the most heart-rending (alluded to in the aristophanic title) was the loss of a great opportunity for Aristophanes being around and writing a marvellous comedy.

My question to the oracle of Delphi “where are we heading for?” remains still un-answered.
